Overview

louies-low-backThe West Coast Clinic of Osteopathy offers a full range of manual osteopathic treatments.  We provide care for people of all ages from newborns and children, to pregnant women, athletes, office workers, students, teens, the elderly and manual laborers.

Techniques are tailored to the individual according to safety, efficacy, patient preference and presenting complaint.

Some patients prefer robust soft tissue massage and mobilization. Others prefer relaxing into a soothing cranial treatment.

Soft tissue work is done with the aim of restoring a natural length to the muscles and balance through the fascias.

Techniques used include massage, stretching, myofascial release and fascial unwinding.

Balance in the skeletal frame is achieved by a combination of one or more of the following: articulation (mobilization), stretching, functional technique, strain-counterstrain, muscle energy technique and cranial osteopathy.

Balance in the viscera (internal organs) is achieved using visceral and cranial techniques.

The patient is always treated as a whole.  Each of the tissues is inextricably intertwined with other tissues in the body.  Because of this, treatments are designed to achieve release and balance in all the body tissues.

We use a combination of the above techniques to bring the body back to balance, relieve pain and allow the body to heal itself.
